Donene Hendricks
Board Member/Coach

I have been coaching sports and youth for 25+ years.  I come to Kahiau VBC with years and years of experience coaching basketball, baseball, football, cross country, softball, and now volleyball!  My number one priority as a coach is that the kids learn in a safe and fun environment. While I am fairly new to the game of volleyball I continually draws from my many years of experience coaching youth in other sports to motivate, teach and encourage kids. I have grown to love coaching this sport and I am looking forward to another great indoor season with Kahiua VBC.

Javes Escalera

I was raised in Manson and graduated from Manson High School. I've been playing volleyball competitively since my Freshman year of high school; managing the MHS Lady Trojans, and playing club for Confluence and Spokane Boys' VBC. I was recruited to be a setter for Adrian College in Adrian, MI. Now that I'm an "adult" I play for adult competitive leagues and tournaments, as well as being a volunteer coach at MHS and coach for Kahiau VBC.

Camisha has a love and passion for the game of volleyball.  She was a setter at Chelan High School, and went on to play at Gonzaga University.  She looks forward to encouraging her players to develop drive and determination on, and off, the court!

I grew up on the west side of the state near Bothell, WA.  I played tennis and soccer in high school, but then ran track and field for Whitworth University. After completing my Masters in Teaching I moved to Southern California where I taught middle school physical education in Compton.  There I coached two years of softball and four years of boys and girls soccer.  Two years ago I moved to Chelan upon accepting a physical education position at Morgen Owings Elementary and have been coaching both boys and girls soccer for Chelan High School.  I have enjoyed volleyball as a hobby since college and I am looking forward to coaching in the Kahiau organization.

Madi was born and raised in the Chelan valley.  She started playing volleyball in the 7th grade for Chelan middle school.  She fell in love with the game and continued to play and took advantage of every opportunity she was given.  She played for Chelan HS where she made 1 State Championship appearance with a team that took home the 2nd place trophy.  She also played a lot of club volleyball, playing for NCWVBC, Kahiau VBC, and Confuence VBC.  After having an exceptional high school career Madi played post high school volleyball at Wenatchee Valley College.  When Madi was asked about how she felt about coaching this winter she said, "Although I do not have any coaching experience yet, I have been around the sport for many years and feel like I have gained enough knowledge to help the players in the Kahiau program."

Wai-Tim Petersen
Mental Training Coach

Wai-Tim was a very accomplished 3 sport athlete at Manson High school.  He went on to play baseball and football at PLU.  While in the PLU football program he was coached by Hall of Fame coach Frosty Westering, and this is where Wai found his passion and love of the mental side of competing as an athlete.  He became a student of the mental training that goes into being a college athlete while continuing to improve physically and ultimately was named Co-Captain of the PLU football team. Wai understands what it means to compete mentally and physically at a high level.

He majored in PE and minored in psychology while at PLU.  He then went on to Grad school at OSU where he studied Human Performance, Sports psychology and minored in counseling.

The past 10 years he and his family have lived here in our valley and he has coached numerous sports teams for both Manson and Chelan.
